Phase 4: Pilot Phase |

Through the Pilot Phase, you will have an opportunity to put new solution ideas into practice through a structured and efficient method of rapid improvement. The Process Improvement Program (PIP) aims to complete this phase in ten weeks. Depending on your hospital’s state of readiness and competing priorities, however, you may find that more or less time is appropriate. During this phase, initiatives/solutions will be monitored and evaluated objectively to determine whether they should be implemented more broadly. If the initiative satisfies its initial improvement objectives, a clearly laid out implementation plan will be developed to help realize the benefits more broadly across your hospital (or specific department). It is important to understand that this phase is iterative and based on your observations, data analysis and learnings you will evolve your solutions to better meet your improvement objectives and the stakeholder’s needs.
The Pilot Phase Toolkit download (top right corner) includes workplans and all the necessary tools, guidelines and checklists to complete this phase — feel free to explore these components individually by clicking on the corresponding links below.
